Mr. Sergio Marchi is the former Ambassador of Canada to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and to the Office of the United Nations in Geneva, and also former Chairman of the WTO General Council.

Prior to his post as Permanent Representative in Geneva Mr. Marchi served as Canadian Member of Parliament for 15 years. In Government he held several senior posts as Minister for International Trade, Minister of the Environment and Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. Mr. Marchi has a wide international experience and carries with him a rich experience in trade policy and multilateral trade negotiations.

Mr. Marchi was educated at St. Basil’s College and earned an honours degree in Urban Planning and Sociology, from York University in 1979. He also serves as a member of several non-profit boards, including the Advisory Council of the Schulich School of Business at York University.

Mr. Marchi and his wife, Laureen, have two children.
