Hon. Manuel Marin
Mr. Manuel Marin is President of the Spanish Parliament.
Mr. Marin is a former Vice-president of the European Commission in charge of Co-operation and Development Policy, and Economic External Relations with Mediterranean, Latin American, Asian and Pacific countries, including Humanitarian Aid. He has also served as European Commission Vice-president for Co-operation and Development and the Fisheries Common Policy and European Commission Vice-president for Social Affairs, Education and Employment. As Vice-Minister for the relations with the European Communities, Mr. Marin led the negotiations for Spain’s adhesion to the European Community in 1985.
Before being appointed President Mr. Marin was a member of the Spanish Parliament and served as International Policy Secretary of the Federal Committee of Spain’s Socialist Worker’s Party.
Mr. Marin is a graduate in Law from Complutense University (Madrid) and has a Diploma in European Community Law from Nancy University (France). He was awarded with the High European Studies Certificate from the Europe College of Bruges (Belgium).
Mr. Manuel Marin is a citizen of Spain.
