Dr. Mary GARCIA CASTRO
Dr. Mary Garcia Castro is a Researcher at the UNESCO Representation in Brazil, an Associated Researcher at the Center of Studies on International Migration, University of Campinas, Sao Paulo, and a Member of the National Commission on Population and Development entrusted with the follow-up to the Brazilian Government programmes related to the United Nations Conference on Population and Development (Cairo 1994).
She is a retired professor of the University of Bahia and a leading expert in migration and population issues. She has published several books and numerous articles on Latin American politics, gender, citizenship, race and civil society. She was a visiting professor and researcher at the Georgetown University in 2000 and holds a PhD in Sociology from University of Florida.
Dr. Mary Garcia Castro is a Brazilian citizen and lives in Rio de Janeiro.
