Mr. Jan O. Karlsson is a former Swedish Minister for Development Cooperation, Migration and Asylum Policy, and a former President of the European Court of Auditors of the European Union.

Mr. Karlsson has a long and distinguished background as a senior civil servant. He served as Secretary of State responsible for co-operation between Scandinavian countries and as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Finance. He has also been chief negotiator and adviser on economic, financial and budgetary matters to the Secretariat of the Social Democratic Group in the Swedish Parliament and served as Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In parallel with his professional activities he has held various positions on the boards of public bodies of financial, commercial cultural and social nature.

As a Member of the European Court of Auditors, he was responsible for auditing in the field of co-operation with developing countries and non-EU Member States of the General Budget of the European Union.

Mr. Jan O. Karlsson is a Swedish citizen. He is married and has two children.
